Volunteers are indispensable at TCRAS
The Teller County Regional Animal Shelter is looking for a few volunteers. There’s nothing new about that, though. Colorado Springs woman finds healing through llamas
A soothing, buzzy, atonal vibration fills a well-kept stable off 30th Street near Glen Eyrie. Nothing is short-circuiting. It’s just the sound of a contented llama. A humming llama is a happy llama, and today that happy gal is 10-year-old Chloe, who shuffles around the pen with her three buddies: Zorro, Pedro and Issey. After…

National Mill Dog Rescue’s Festival in the Bark: Meet the dogs looking for forever homes
Soft puppy eyes press into the cold bars of a kennel, and a dog blinks through a metal grid that’s always stood in its way. Live Well: Must love dogs
It was a beautiful day for a dog walk in my third space. The sun warmed my bones, the chubby bumblebees buzzed, and neither dog had yet sniffed out and scarfed up a desiccated, half-gnawed, insect-ridden chicken drumstick casually tossed in a gutter, or something laced with weed, which has happened. Don’t worry, the little…

Colorado Springs terrier at ease as the star of the show
More than 2,500 dogs begin the day competition-ready. By the end, however, only a handful stand in the spotlight. Long before the judges make the final cuts at the 150th Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show, Colorado Springs trainer Tommy Dantzler and his 4-year-old black Russian terrier, Rye, are ready for anything. “He’s on autopilot,” Dantzler…
