Detectives from the Colorado Springs Regional Explosives Unit on Monday arrested a 21-year-old man who they believe has intentionally set at least four fires since December 2024.

Brandon Hugney is believed to have set two fires in 2024 and two fires in 2025, according to police.

In 2024, Hugney allegedly started a fire in an occupied apartment on Dec. 10 and a vehicle on Dec. 21, which caused $22,000 in damages. This year, he is believed to be connected to a fire at a vacant commercial building on April 21 and a grass fire in the 1500 block of Space Center Drive on Monday.

Hugney was arrested on several felony charges, including first degree arson, second degree arson, fourth degree arson and intentionally setting a wildfire, according to police records.

Police ask anyone who has information regarding the fires to call (719) 444-7000, or to report anonymously using Pikes Peak Crime Stoppers.
