Colorado Springs Airport to hold full-scale emergency response drill on Wednesday
Multiple regional agencies will hold a full-scale emergency response exercise at the Colorado Springs Airport on Wednesday, according to a news release.
Colorado Springs Fire Department, Colorado Springs Police Department, the Pikes Peak Regional Office of Emergency Management and other participating agencies will be on hand for the exercise, which is designed to evaluate and sharpen the emergency skills of airport personnel and area response agencies.
During the exercise there will be an increased presence of emergency vehicles in the area, as well as actors portraying victims, officials said. There may also be some smoke and flames visible on the northwest side of the airport.
“There will be no impact to the airport or flight operations,” the release stated.
Federal Aviation Administrations require airports to conduct full-scale emergency drills at least once every three years, officials said.
