Colorado Springs weather: Seasonably warm with a chance of thunderstorms

Colorado Springs residents can expect sunny skies and seasonably warm conditions this week, with occasional afternoon thunderstorms, according to Gazette news partner KOAA.

“Today we begin to dry out, with fewer storms ahead than what we saw over the weekend,” said News 5 meteorologist Alan Rose.

Heavy rains caused flash flood warnings in parts of southern Colorado over the weekend, including in Beulah, where a man died Sunday after being swept away in fast-moving floodwaters near the Aspen Acres burn scar.

In Pueblo County, where fire crews are still battling Aspen Acres blaze, conditions are expected to be sunny and warm, with a high of 89 degrees. The seventh-largest wildfire in Colorado history was at 102,004 acres with 72% containment as of Saturday morning.

Colorado Springs is expected to be similarly warm, with a high near 86 degrees and a 30% chance of thunderstorms in the afternoon, according to the National Weather Service in Pueblo.

Here is the rest of the week’s forecast from the National Weather Service:

Tuesday: Sunny, with a high near 93 degrees. A 20% chance of showers and thunderstorms after 5 p.m.

Wednesday: Mostly sunny in the morning, with a chance of thunderstorms in the afternoon and a high near 87 degrees.

Thursday: Sunny with a high near 88 degrees. A 20% chance of showers and thunderstorms after noon

Friday: Sunny with a high near 91 degrees. A chance of thunderstorms in the afternoon.
