Argument leads to gunfire at Colorado Springs apartment complex

An altercation escalated to an exchange of gunfire at an apartment complex in southeast Colorado Springs early Sunday, according to a police blotter entry.

No one was wounded in the exchange, but at least two apartments and two vehicles were damaged in the incident, police said.

Officers responded to a 2:20 a.m. call about a disturbance at the Fountain Springs apartment complex near East Fountain Boulevard and Jet Wing Drive. When they arrived, witnesses told them that several shots had been fired by a group of teens, who then scattered throughout the complex.

Five teens ran when police arrived at the scene, but they didn’t get far before they were caught, police said.

Investigators determined that a group of teens were arguing when a second group arrived in a vehicle. One of the occupants fired a shot, then exchanged “numerous additional rounds” with the occupants of an apartment.

The teens remain unidentified due to their age, and no arrests were announced.
