Profile proves that ‘dance is alive and well’

National Profile for Colorado Dance AllianceColorado Dance Alliance, the 30-year old statewide organization representing and supporting dance in Colorado, has been profiled in the August edition of Dance Studio Life. CDA sponsors many programs and activities that benefit the dance community but selected for special mention are: Open Stages, which provides choreographic and performance opportunities in various areas of the state; the Summer Master Class Series, offering classes in a variety of dance forms; the annual CDA Awards, which honor exceptional work in dance in Colorado; and the Richard Denny Scholarship, which provides support to young dancers by helping pay for their classes.Having CDA highlighted in a national publication confirms that dance is alive and well not just in the major US cities but also in a place known for its skiing and outdoor life. CDA President Athena Baschal notes, “The fact that CDA has existed and thrived for over 30 years now is testament to a legacy of many, many dedicated, dance-driven board members who volunteer their time and energies making sure that dance is supported statewide. In Colorado, statewide covers a huge geographical space since we are the 8th largest state. Dance happens all over Colorado – in our wonderful western slope, in the fabulous front range, and in our majestic mountains.”The Colorado Dance Alliance membership includes dancers, companies, teachers, students, studios, writers, audience members, and educational institutions.  Membership is open to anyone who appreciates and supports dance in Colorado. Membership information, organizational activities, and CDA newsletters can be found at www.codance.org
