The body of one person was recovered from Prospect Lake on Wednesday night, according to Colorado Springs police.

Police were sent to Prospect Lake around 5:30 p.m. to assist the Colorado Springs Fire Department after receiving reports of a drowning.

Police said that a bystander on a boat rescued a man from the water and took him to shore.

When first responders arrived, the man was unresponsive.

Fire Department personnel attempted to conduct lifesaving measures, but he died at the scene. His identity will be released by the El Paso County Coroner’s Office at a later date.

Police confirmed with Gazette news partner KOAA that they are conducting a death investigation, but there is nothing that indicates foul play.
