Till Neighborhood Bistro and Bar, Vine and Wheel close in downtown Colorado Springs

Two downtown Colorado Springs restaurants — the Till Neighborhood Bistro and Bar and the Vine and Wheel — have closed, owner Mitch Yellen confirmed to The Gazette on Tuesday.

The restaurants operated within the same building as Garden of the Gods Market and Café at 616 S. Tejon St. The Market and Café will remain open. Plans are in place to convert the now-unoccupied areas into event spaces.

The restaurants were set up to complement one another, with the Market and Café acting as a morning and brunch concept and Till serving later to catch dinner crowds. Vine and Wheel existed as a stand-alone wine bar.

When called for comment Yellen was unavailable. Amy Esquivel, the finance director of Altitude Hospitality Group, which owns the Market and Café, The Pinery at the Hill and other restaurant concepts and event spaces that have come and gone, provided a statement from Yellen.

“We are proceeding with extended hours at Garden of the Gods and will use the Till and Vine & Wheel spaces for private events,” said the statement, shared with The Gazette via text.

Yellen’s other ventures in town include Dad’s Donuts, which at one point had three stand-alone locations. Two locations closed in December last year, while the downtown location at 29 E. Moreno Ave. shut down in March. The closure of the popular doughnut and pastry shop was attributed to an “instrumental” employee’s medical leave.

Vine and Wheel was a “wine bar with an impressive bill of fare” and was almost hidden in the complex housing the trio of restaurants, according to past coverage by The Gazette.

Robin Intemann, The Gazette’s food critic, largely praised the food offerings at the wine bar three years ago. Till garnered a more measured review from Intemann, who reviewed the restaurant in 2022.

Yellen owns the Altitude Hospitality Group, which has operated several restaurants and restaurant concepts in Colorado Springs since at least 2006. Some have been successful, but it hasn’t been all smooth sailing.

In early 2025, a plan to sell the Pinery North events center, located at 9633 Prominent Point, fell through, causing Yellen to rethink the property as a “culinary center,” The Gazette reported last year.

It evolved into the Homestead Collective, but by July 2025, three of the restaurants had shut down with the Collective citing a lack of community support. The space is now occupied by Lebowski’s Taproom, which opened its second location in April.

The closure of both Till along with Vine and Wheel was shared via social media on the Facebook group CoS Foodies. Some commenters were surprised, sharing they’ve only ever seen it busy, offering excellent service and delicious food.

Others were less surprised, with one commenter taking a swipe at the previously announced closure of The Homestead Collective: “They can’t blame the community for this … If they couldn’t make it work, the failure is internal.”
