El Paso County Sheriff’s deputies arrested a man believed to have set a vehicle on fire in the 8100 block of Piute Road west of Colorado 115 near Fort Carson Gate 5, they Sheriff’s Office announced on Tuesday.

Alex Luevano, 32, was apprehended in the 1000 block of Rice Drive in Colorado Springs on Thursday after a “brief foot pursuit.”

The fire in the Cheyenne Mountain Estates area of unincorporated El Paso County damaged two vehicles, which belonged to people Luevano allegedly threatened earlier in the evening, according to the news release.

Deputies were allegedly able to identify Luevano with security camera footage from neighbors in the area.

Court records show Luevano will face arson, criminal mischief and obstructing a peace officer charges.

Luevano has another case open in El Paso County. In that one, a warrant was issued for his arrest in December 2023 for charges of first-degree trespassing, criminal mischief and second-degree tampering. The warrant was cleared with last week’s arrest, court records show.

An El Paso County judge advised him of his rights in both of his ongoing criminal cases on Friday, and he has since been released on bond.

Luevano was also convicted on one count of contributing to the delinquency of a minor in Boulder County in 2012.
