Colorado Springs police issue over 300 citations in car registration crackdown
A crackdown across the Front Range last week yielded 313 citations for registration enforcement in Colorado Springs alone.
The initiative included the Colorado Springs, Aurora, Denver, Fountain, Monument and Manitou Springs police departments, as well as the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office. In total, 955 citations were issued during a week authorities said was a zero-tolerance approach to registration violators.
The crackdown began in response to a “surge” of complaints from citizens about an increase in vehicles with expired or no registrations on the roads.
The effort aimed not only to enforce the law but to encourage compliance and remind motorists to keep their registration up to date, according to a Thursday news release from Colorado Springs police.
While the coordinated effort is now over, authorities are still committed to intentional registration enforcement, the news release states. Other traffic-related violations are also a priority.
