Donations being accepted for Colorado trooper injured in shooting

Donations are being accepted on a crowdfunding GoFundMe page for Colorado State Patrol Trooper Skylar Hoehn, one of two troopers wounded in a shooting near Woodland Park on Tuesday.

The shooting caused serious injuries to Hoehn, who remained hospitalized but was “doing well” on Wednesday, according to a news release from State Patrol. Trooper Clark Tinan also suffered minor injuries and was released from the hospital on Tuesday.

The shooting prompted a massive law enforcement presence west of Woodland Park on Tuesday after the suspect fired at a trooper who pulled him over and shot another trooper who drove past him a short time later, according to law enforcement officials.

Teller County Sheriff’s deputies later Tuesday fatally shot the suspect Robert Rudolf Richards Jr., 51, of Loveland, at a home in Woodland Park.

Hoehn and Tinan have 15 and 10 years of experience with Colorado State Patrol, respectively.

“We are asking for support for Skylar, Crystal, and the entire Hoehn Family as they face the difficult months ahead,” stated the GoFundMe post. “Skylar’s injuries will require a long recovery, and this unexpected situation has placed a heavy burden on the family’s day-to-day life.”

Donations were expected to go toward meals and other household expenses.
