Pikes Pick: Home is where the fried chicken and fixings are south of Colorado Springs
Distance makes the heart grow fonder, they say. Truly, my heart longed for a return to Juniper Valley Ranch, where I had not been for years. How wonderful it was recently to find the little mud house, fried chicken, fixings, hospitality and countryside south of Colorado Springs all the same ー just as it’s all been since 1951.
That’s when the family-style dinners began. And so they continue for $29 a person, with all the extra chicken, ham, riced potatoes and gravy, biscuits and apple butter, coleslaw and okra casserole you’d like.
Don’t wait to make a reservation; dinner is served weekends only for the season through December.
