Highly-anticipated Brazilian steakhouse opens in north Colorado Springs | Table Talk
The much-anticipated Texas de Brazil — Churrascaria Steakhouse has opened at 140 Spectrum Loop.
Insider’s tip: Come hungry.
Never been to a Brazilian steakhouse? Here’s what you’ll find.
Waiters called gauchos move through the dining room with determination and energy, carrying jaw-dropping skewers of slow-roasted meats from table to table. The service replicates legendary feasts of southern Brazil, where gauchos, or local cowboys, bring skewers of succulent meats to the table and carve hunks directly onto your plate.
Be forewarned: Slow down. Don’t worry that you’ll never see the gaucho with the lamb chops again. It’s amazingly easy to go hog-wild and end up with more protein on your plate than you could eat in a week. The gauchos are there to make sure you get your fill, but the Brazilian lifestyle is about taking time to savor the meal.

During a visit, you’ll be offered flame-grilled beef, lamb, pork, chicken and Brazilian sausage through continuous tableside service. There’s also an inviting salad bar boasting more than 50 selections, including cheeses, cured meats, vegetables, hot dishes and Brazilian specialties.
As we tucked into our seats, a waiter slid a basket of hot, puffy balls onto the table.
“It’s pão de queijo,” he said, “a signature Brazilian cheese bread. It’s gluten free, made with tapioca starch. It’s one of Brazil’s classic foods.”
From the jam-packed dining room, with customers on a waitlist, there’s definitely an appetite for more caveman dining.
And save room for dessert. Waiters pass by with an array of mouth-watering sweets that are impossible to resist.
Dinner with meat service and access to the salad area costs $58.99 per person. Salad-only is $33.99. Children 2 and younger eat free with an adult dinner; ages 3 to 5 are $5, and ages 6 to 12 receive 50% off.
Hours are 5 to 9 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 5 to 10 p.m. Friday, 4 to 10 p.m. Saturday and 4 to 9 p.m. Sunday. Details: 719-752-8722, texasdebrazil.com/locations/colorado-springs.

From skewers to small plates
Sister restaurants Garden of the Gods Café and Market and Till Neighborhood Bistro had been operating out of the front of house at 4650 N. Nevada Ave., with the Café and Market serving breakfast and lunch before Till opened for dinner.
Now the musical chairs have shuffled the restaurants into a welcoming new arrangement. As of Aug. 4, Till has joined sibling wine bar Vine and Wheel in the rear space for evening service, opening the front of the house for the Café and Market to offer extended daytime hours, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily.
The cozy Vine and Wheel space is intimate, with cushy sofas along the edges and bistro-style chairs upholstered in deep blue velvet surrounding four-tops.
Executive chef Jairo Reconco has created a tight menu of starters, main courses, salads, fresh pasta and sides, with dishes for sippers who enjoy a small plate or diners ready to linger over an elegant dinner.
We shared grilled artichoke ($22), classic shrimp cocktail ($15), and an apple-date salad special ($17). Entrees included crispy hot-honey half-fried chicken ($34) and fresh burrata and truffled gnocchi ($28). All were next-level scrumptious.
The bistro and wine bar entrance is down a walkway on the south side. Hours are 5 to 9 p.m. Details: 719-471-2799, godsmarketandcafe.com.
