Rockies record longest home losing streak in Coors Field history

On the same day that the Colorado Rockies honored one of their franchise legends with a statue outside Coors Field, they fell to a new low on the baseball diamond within.

After the Cleveland Guardians scored three runs in the top of the first inning Sunday, Colorado only put up two of their own the rest of the day as the team fell in a 7-2 loss.

The game marked the third consecutive home series in which the Rockies were swept — the team’s ninth straight Coors Field loss, Colorado’s new all-time losing streak at the ballpark, according to sports-reference.com.

The streak, which began on Aug. 3 when Colorado lost 13-9 to the Tampa Bay Rays, is the longest consecutive home losing streak for any team since the Kansas City Royals lost 11 straight home games last year.

After suffering a sweep at the hands of the Rays, the Rockies then went on the road for three series before they returned home and were swept by the Los Angeles Dodgers and the Guardians in consecutive series.

The Rockies will be on the road for the next six games before they return home on Aug. 31, looking to end the skid against the Baltimore Orioles.
