‘No immediate threat’ found after brief incident at Colorado Springs football game
An incident at a Vista Ridge High School football game drew a police presence Friday night, but no threat was detected, according to the Colorado Springs Police Department.
A school resource officer encountered a small group of people “running and yelling” about a person with a gun, police said, of the situation at the District 49 school at 6888 Black Forest Road.
One person reported hearing a gunshot, but other people in the area said no shots were fired. The SRO responded but found no threat. Other officers also responded to check the school, parking lot and other areas, also finding no evidence of a gun being fired or anything else of note.
“The majority of the spectators did not react and continued watching the football game,” read the CSPD blotter entry.
Vista Ridge went on to lose the game, 28-12, to visiting Mesa Ridge.
