Train crashes into vehicle in east Colorado Springs
Colorado Springs Fire Department personnel responded to a collision between a train and a vehicle on Tuesday, according to a social media post from the department.
The crash took place just after 2 p.m. on Fillmore Street east of North Nevada Avenue when a vehicle failed to yield to the train despite active crossing lights and a warning bell, according to Colorado Springs police.
The two occupants of the vehicle were safely removed and evaluated, officials said. No injuries were reported, and the driver was cited for failing to yield.
Motorists were asked to avoid the area as Fillmore Street was closed in both directions for several hours.
