Post-hardcore, progressive country, rock ‘n’ roll shows around Colorado Springs this week
Quicksand: Formed in 1990, the band had a huge influence on developing the post-hardcore scene, a type of music that fits in the punk rock genre, but includes melodies and harmonies. The group broke up in the late ’90s, but reunited in 2012 for three more albums and counting. Bane, Soul Blind and Public Opinion open the show, 7:30 p.m. Saturday, The Black Sheep, 2106 E. Platte Ave., $46.08; blacksheeprocks.com.
Billy Failing: The Colorado-based banjo player, guitarist and singer-songwriter, a star in his own right, has also played banjo on two recordings by Grammy Award-winning guitarist Billy Strings. A graduate of Berklee College of Music in Boston, Failing’s debut album, “Calling My Trouble by Name,” dropped in 2017, 8 p.m. Thursday, Lulu’s, 32 S. Tejon St., $30.72; lulusmusic.co.
Stone Beat Invasion: Tribute to The Beatles & Rolling Stones: For the past decade, the 10-piece Denver-based band has channeled their best Mick Jagger and Paul McCartney to adoring audiences. The setlist features hits from the 1960s, ’70s and ’80s, 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Phil Long Music Hall at Bourbon Brothers, 13071 Bass Pro Drive, $25.64-$49.61; phillongmusichall.com.

Michael Martin Murphey: It’s OK to be jealous of someone who hasn’t yet heard Murphey’s 1975 hit, “Wildfire,” and gets to hear it for the first time. The progressive country singer-songwriter has more than 35 albums and half a century of performing on his resume, including the hits “Carolina in the Pines” and “What’s Forever For,” 7:30 p.m. Friday, Phil Long Music Hall at Bourbon Brothers, 13071 Bass Pro Drive, $59.52-$92.90; phillongmusichall.com.
Santa Rios — A Tribute to Santana: After meeting in Salida decades ago, percussionists George A. Mossman and Bones Davis decided in 2021 to put together a Carlos Santana tribute band. Their nine-piece group recreates the hits of the Mexican-American guitarist, including “Smooth,” “Black Magic Woman” and “Evil Ways,” 7 p.m. Friday, Stargazers Theatre, 10 S. Parkside Drive, $28; stargazerstheatre.com.
