Noah Kahan calls out Vail Resorts on Denver Great Divide tour stop
Musician Noah Kahan called out corporate ski giant Vail Resorts, Inc. while performing at Coors Field Saturday.
Kahan, a Grammy nominee who skyrocketed to notoriety in 2023 after releasing his third studio album “Stick Season,” played two sold-out shows in Denver last weekend amid the North American leg of his Great Divide tour.
He cheekily disparaged the corporate behemoth during a running gag in which he answers an onstage call from a faux payphone and speaks to a “caller” who has a connection to the city or region he’s performing in.
“Vail Resorts?” he said into the phone Saturday. “Go (expletive) yourselves!”
The jab, which was met with raucous cheers and laughter from the 50,000-person crowd, referenced Vail Resorts’ affinity for buying up independently owned ski hills across the country and corporatizing them — including in Colorado and across Kahan’s home region of New England.
Vail Resorts, which is headquartered in Broomfield, owns five ski mountains across the state: Vail, Beaver Creek, Breckenridge, Keystone and Crested Butte.

This isn’t the first time Kahan has decried Vail Resorts and implied that the resort company strips charm from local ski hills.
“This place had a heartbeat in its day / Vail bought the mountains, and nothing was the same,” he sang in “Paul Revere,” a popular song off his Stick Season album.
Kahan answered a call from a different faux caller on night two — God, specifically — who “asked” him to play “Paul Revere,” a song that did not make Saturday’s lineup.
Vail Resorts did not respond to a request for comment Monday by the time this story was published.
