Former state champion wrestler arrested in domestic incident: Colorado Springs police
Colorado Springs police on Monday arrested a man who had barricaded himself in a room during a domestic disturbance, according to an online blotter entry.
David Dainty-Guilfoyle, 21, faces charges related to the incident and multiple felony warrants out of Mesa County, police said.
At about 8:20 p.m. Monday, officers responded to a call about a domestic incident in progress at a hotel in the1400 block of Harrison Road. Family members told the officers that Dainty-Guilfoyle had locked himself inside a second-floor room after a physical altercation with his mother and another woman. The suspect was the only person in the room, officials said.
While officers established containment they began receiving additional information, including the Mesa County warrants and the fact that Dainty-Guilfoyle was a former state champion wrestler who had once injured a peace officer in an assault.
At one point Dainty-Guilfoyle broke a double-pane window and tried to escape through it, police said. Officers outside the hotel convinced him to remain in the room. Other officers in the hallway were able to convince Dainty-Guilfoyle to surrender peacefully. He was treated for minor injuries to his hand from the broken window.
Dainty-Guilfoyle is currently being held without bond at the El Paso County Jail, records show.
