Trading card burglary suspect caught trying to sell stolen goods: Colorado Springs police
Colorado Springs police on Saturday arrested a man suspected of burglarizing trading card and gaming shops with the intention of selling the merchandise, law enforcement officials said.
Tyson Dunckel, 33, is facing multiple felony charges, including motor vehicle theft, burglary and narcotics possession, police said.
When two collector card and gaming shops were burglarized early Saturday, officers found enough evidence to suspect that they were committed by the same person. In both cases, a male dressed in dark clothing broke into the business, took large quantities of collectible items, and drove off in a dark sedan. The sedan was later confirmed to be stolen, police said.
At about 12:30 p.m., police learned that the suspect, identified as Dunckel, was trying to sell the stolen goods at another shop. When officers arrived at the shop, Dunckel tried to escape on foot but was caught and arrested.
In addition to recovering the stolen property, officers found an undisclosed quantity of “suspected narcotics for distribution,” police said.
Dunckel is being held at the El Paso County jail on $150,000 bond, records show.
