Summit delays Saturday’s kickoff against Royals to 8 p.m. over extreme temperature forecast
The Denver Summit were originally scheduled to host the Utah Royals at 2 p.m. Saturday, but kickoff has been pushed back to 8 p.m. per a social media message posted Friday afternoon.
With a high temperature of 99 degrees forecast for Saturday in Centennial, Colo. and a kickoff temp of 97 degrees according to Weather Underground, team officials thought it best for players and fans to delay the start of the match.
“The health and safety of our players, staff, officials and fans remains our top priority,” the club said in the post.
Saturday’s match is the third for Denver in seven days. The Summit will look to close the three-match homestand with a win as Denver fell to visiting North Carolina Courage on Wednesday and tied Boston Legacy on Sunday.
