Suspect tied to armed robbery, sexual assault in Security-Widefield
An El Paso County man is accused of robbing two people at gunpoint and sexually assaulting a 16-year-old.
Jacob Anderson, 28, also struck one of the victims with a firearm during the robbery, investigators with the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office said.
Sheriff’s deputies and Fountain police officers were dispatched to the 300 block of De La Vista Street in Security-Widefield at 12:35 a.m. Saturday after one of the victims called 911 and said Anderson robbed them, according to a news release from the Sheriff’s Office.
They drove to a home in the area after their 16-year-old friend texted them, asking for a ride home. When they arrived, Anderson exited the home armed with a gun and told them the teenager would not be leaving, the release states.
Anderson went back inside after the alleged physical assault and robbery.
Deputies and officers made contact with two adults in the home who said Anderson lived there.
Further questioning of the group led investigators to believe that Anderson sexually assaulted the 16-year-old, leading authorities to obtain a search warrant for the home, but they found neither the teenager nor Anderson inside.
After requesting help from the FBI and Colorado Springs Police Department, the authorities found Anderson and the teenager at an apartment in the 3000 block of Airport Road at 6:47 p.m. Saturday.
Anderson was taken to the El Paso County jail, where the Sheriff’s Office says he posted a $15,000 bond.
He is charged with aggravated robbery, menacing, second-degree assault and sexual assault.
