LETTERS: Voter turnout matters; agencies won’t help

Voter turnout matters

The votes have finally been tallied, and the primaries are over. Many voters of both parties may be disappointed in the results at the top of the tickets and may be tempted to stay home in November. Whether they are Republicans, sensible unaffiliated voters or sane Democrats, this would be a mistake. The Democratic Party has been hijacked by the DSA (Democratic Socialists of America). The DSA is a group of communist revolutionaries, as demonstrated by their published platform.

A case in point is Melat Kiros, who defeated fifteen-term incumbent Diana DeGette in Denver District 1. DeGette is no moderate, but a member of the far-left wing of the Democratic Party. Kiros is a 29-year-old graduate student and will become the U.S. representative in that district because the same fools who voted for her in the primary will support her in the general.

In a recent television interview, she was asked about businesses leaving Colorado, in particular, tech giant Palantir. Basically she said good riddance. Why? Because she considers them “warmongers”. Well then, how about companies like Lockheed and their 40,000 Colorado employees? Same answer. Why? Because, “I want a world without war.” That sounds more like the vapid response of a beauty contestant than of a serious public official. There are several other DSA-affiliated candidates elsewhere in the Colorado ballot in November.

It is essential that sensible voters participate in November’s general election in order to aid the solid candidates lower down on the ballot. If sane voters want sane public officials, they will have to vote for sane candidates. Remember, a socialist is someone too stupid to know he is a communist.

Not one agency will help

We have deer in our area. A doe and two small ones came into the cul-de-sac and one of the small ones has a badly injured leg.

My neighbors called every agency to seek help for this poor animal. No one would help. The injury is really bad; it looks broken and bent. How is it that not one agency can help. It’s a shame that all the agencies take our tax dollars and say they can’t help in any way. What are we to do?

City celebration lacking

As we all know, this July 4 was the 250th anniversary of the birth of our nation. Kind of a big deal! One would expect some type of patriotism from the city. Over the 4th of July Weekend, I decided to take a drive downtown with the express purpose of taking patriotic pictures to capture the moment.

To my indignation, discontentment and quite simply, my disgust (other than Weidner Field), I found zero American flags presented by the city. Zero,

We have men and women from the five military bases in our area, who sacrifice for our country and flag. And we have many veterans as well. And yet Mayor Yemi Mobalade showed them zero respect & honor. Ronald Reagan once said: “When we honor our flag we honor what we stand for as a Nation-freedom, equality, justice and hope.” It’s hard to honor our flag when there aren’t any…

But that’s only one side of the coin. What I did find downtown, as if the lack of American flags wasn’t enough, was too many Pride banners to count. While I realize this issue has been discussed ad nauseam, let me state some facts. The 4th of July, A.K.A. Independence Day, is one DAY. Memorial Day is one DAY. Veterans Day is one DAY. And yet the Pride celebration is an entire month. And that month is June…not July.

While other holidays get a DAY, apparently an entire MONTH isn’t enough for the Pride celebration, as it’s now most of July as well. Of note: I took another trip downtown on August 1st to see if the mayor decided to honor the 150th Anniversary of our state. Nothing.

Socialism doesn’t work

Socialism runs against the grain of human nature. It does not work.
Another unfortunate result of Socialism is that because someone has to be in control of the distribution of productivity, history has shown that those in control tend to keep more than their fair share. This in turn leads to power by those in charge, which then leads to total control of the populace.

Examples of such Socialist controlled states were the USSR, China and Cuba. For all practical purposes, China turned to capitalism in the 1980’s.

Do not let the current proponents of Socialism lead you astray in believing that it is the New and Great Solution to all our problems. Either these people are ignorant of history or of what Socialism is, or they are simply using the latest Buzz word to get your vote. Capitalism gives us a reason to get up in the morning, go to a productive job, and bring home wages that provide us a decent living and hope for a better future. Socialism gives us no such incentive.
