Antonio Senzatela had a resurgence this season in the Rockies bullpen. Now he’s on his way to Milwaukee through a trade deadline deal.

The 31-year-old Senzatela has been sent to Milwaukee in exchange for left-handed pitcher Mark Manfredi and shortstop Juan Martinez, according to reports. Manfredi was a ninth-round pick of the Brewers in 2023 and advanced to Triple-A this season, posting a 1-2 record with a 3.09 ERA in 18 relief appearances.

Martinez is a 19-year-old shortstop who progressed to Low-A this season, playing in 18 games there after his promotion from the Arizona Complex League. He’s hitting a combined .294 this season, but just .208 in 67 Low-A at-bats.

The deal had not been confirmed by the Rockies at the time of this publication, but Senzatela was seen bidding goodbye to teammates and Coors Field employees not long after the news broke on X.

After making 145 starts for the Rockies since his debut in 2017, Senzatela became a weapon for Colorado out of the bullpen in 2026. His nine wins are the second-most among all MLB relievers and are just two shy of his career high of 11 set in 2019.

While Senzatela has a 3.61 ERA in 52.1 innings this season, he has struggled in recent weeks. He went 1-2 with a 6.48 ERA in 8.1 July innings after posting an 8.18 ERA in 11.0 innings in June.

Senzatela has been rumored to be on the move for a few weeks, but the news still hit Rockies starting pitcher Kyle Freeland hard on Monday. Freeland and Senzatela made their debuts with the Rockies one day apart from each other in 2017 and spent time in the minor leagues together before that.

“We’ve been together for 12 years, from Low-A all the way to right now,” Freeland said. “He’s an incredible human being. I wish nothing but the best for him and his family moving forward. I love Antonio very much.

“We leaned on each other a lot. I consider him one of my brothers.”
