Free, pop-up concerts in Manitou Springs to celebrate Colorado, kindness
Four musicians will fete Colorado and do Manitou Springs a kindness.
Educational Partnerships Immersive Concerts (EPIC), a classical music series, will surprise visitors and residents with two pop-up performances on Saturday, from 7:30-8 a.m. at The Broadmoor Manitou and Pikes Peak Cog Railway and 8:15-8:45 a.m. at the base of the Manitou Incline.
The free concerts, featuring violinist David Siegel, violist Shauna Smith, clarinetist Sergei Vassiliev and flutist Christina Wilson, are intended to celebrate our state’s 150th anniversary and the launch of Manitou Springs Community Foundation’s Kindness Ambassador Program, which seeks to grow community connections.
“Partnering with EPIC allows us to introduce the program in a way that reflects the joy, generosity and connection we hope ambassadors will inspire,” said Ken Jaray, Manitou’s ex-mayor and the founder of Manitou Springs Community Foundation.

The Kindness Ambassador Program will gift 15 to 20 volunteers each with a $100 Spark Fund to do an act of kindness or meet a community need throughout the tiny mountain town.
The new program is another pillar in the foundation’s Spreading Kindness initiative, which includes the Free Medical Equipment Loan Library.
“Music has a unique ability to bring people together,” said Vassiliev, EPIC founder and principal clarinetist of the Colorado Springs Philharmonic. “These performances are an opportunity to surprise people with something beautiful while celebrating a community that has made kindness part of its identity.”
