The blaze, called the Broce fire, is burning north of the town of Kim and west of Colorado 109. Kim is about 165 miles southeast of Colorado Springs, near the Colorado-New Mexico-Oklahoma border.

No injuries, damaged structures or evacuation orders had been reported as of Tuesday morning. The cause of the fire had not been determined.

Containment information was not available as of 9:30 a.m. Tuesday. Officials are asking the public to avoid the area while firefighting operations continue.
