Man’s threat on former employer leads to more trouble during arrest, Colorado Springs police say

Colorado Springs police on Monday arrested a man suspected of stalking and threatening a former employer.

Cory Ewald, 30, also faces assault charges for hitting a police officer while in custody, officials said.

Officers responded to a 12:25 p.m. call at a business in the 10 block of Elm Avenue on the west side of Colorado Springs, where a former employee had allegedly threatened violence. The suspect, later identified as Ewald, allegedly told the employer and another victim that he had a gun and was planning to go to their homes.

After developing probable cause for an arrest, tactical officers went to Ewald’s residence and arrested him as he was leaving, police said. While he was being placed into a holding cell at the Police Operations Center, Ewald allegedly hit an officer on the wrist.

Ewald was later booked at the El Paso County jail, where he is currently on a mental health hold, officials said.
