Shooting victim accidentally shot himself: Colorado Springs police
Police officers responding to a shooting on Sunday learned during their investigation that the victim had accidentally shot himself, according to law enforcement officials.
At about 11:50 a.m. Sunday, officers responded to an apartment complex at 2030 Dortmund Drive in northeast Colorado Springs after a caller reported that he had been shot by an unknown assailant. When police arrived, they found the victim sitting in a chair in the apartment complex parking lot with a gunshot wound to the leg, officials said.
When additional officers arrived to investigate and could not determine the scene of the shooting, they located the victim’s car, where they saw a gun inside.
“Upon further investigation, officers learned that the victim had accidentally shot himself,” officials said.
The victim was treated at the hospital and released. No arrests or citations were announced.
