The victim of a fatal crash on northbound Interstate 25 on Friday evening was identified as John P. Morrone, 67, on Monday by the Pueblo County Coroner’s Office.

Morrone was allegedly driving the wrong way around the Colorado 50 bypass before striking an SUV head-on near the 13th Street interstate off-ramp, according to Pueblo police. He was pronounced deceased at the scene, and the driver of the SUV was transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

A police investigation into the crash is ongoing.

This was the 12th fatal crash in Pueblo this year.
