Davis Mortuary co-owners out of jail after bond cut in half

The Cotter brothers are out of jail after a Pueblo County magistrate cut their bonds in half Friday.

The Davis Mortuary co-owners spent 24 hours in jail before posting their $500,000 bond, court records show.

Former Pueblo County Coroner Brian Cotter and his brother, Chris, face 125 counts of abuse of a corpse along with nine counts of forgery and 27 counts of theft.

Authorities arrested the two on Thursday, about 10 months after the discovery of 24 bodies, buckets of human tissue and bones inside a secret room at their privately owned mortuary.
