Colorado Springs weather: ‘Mixed bag’ of sunny conditions and thunderstorms this week
Colorado Springs residents should prepare for seasonably warm conditions with possible thunderstorms throughout the week, according to Gazette news partner KOAA.
Conditions will vary across the southern part of the state on Monday, with high fire danger in southwestern Colorado, possible storms along the Interstate 25 corridor, and a “small risk” of severe hail in certain areas of the Pikes Peak region, said News 5 meteorologist Alan Rose.
“We will see a mixed bag of weather today across the state,” Rose said. “Farther east, storms could be quite nasty, with the potential for hail as big as 2-2.5″ in diameter. Storms will also be capable of damaging wind gusts, minor flooding, and a low-end risk of a tornado.”
Colorado Springs should be sunny and breezy Monday, with a high of 83 degrees and a chance of thunderstorms in the afternoon.
Residents should plan for the possibility of “strong and severe” thunderstorms each afternoon this week, Rose said.
