Pueblo SWAT officers shoot, injure suspect after ‘domestic fight’
Pueblo police shot and wounded a man they say fired at them following a report of a “domestic fight” on Tuesday, according to a news release from the department.
Police were dispatched around 3:30 p.m. to the 900 block of Alexander Circle for a report of a fight with weapons, but the suspect left before officers arrived. When police later located his vehicle in the 800 block of East Fifth Street, he allegedly fired at officers.
The suspect fired at officers again when the SWAT team arrived on scene around 7:40 p.m., police said. The SWAT team responded by shooting the man, who was taken to a hospital. As of early Wednesday afternoon, police hadn’t released the suspect’s condition.
The 10th Judicial District Attorney’s Office will investigate the incident. All officers and dispatchers involved in the incident have been placed on administrative leave per the department’s policy.
