Officials not tracking mountain lion in Old Colorado City after reported sightings
Colorado Parks and Wildlife is advising residents in Old Colorado City that sightings of a mountain lion in the area are representative of normal activity, according to a news release by the agency on Thursday.
Officials are not actively tracking the mountain lion, but CPW continues to encourage anyone with information on aggressive wildlife behavior to call 719-227-5200 or 911 after hours.
Mountain lions are common on the west side of Interstate 25 in the region and are most active at dusk, dawn and night, a CPW spokesperson told The Gazette. The lions’ natural habitat is dense oak brush throughout the area.
CPW is also interested in tracking neighborhood activity of bears and moose through its wildlife database, which can be reported to the aforementioned phone numbers.
