Colorado Springs weather: Mostly cloudy, followed by more record-breaking heat
Following a brief cooldown in Colorado Springs, more temperature records are likely to fall in the coming days, according to Gazette news partner KOAA.
Monday is expected to be mostly cloudy, with 5-10 mph winds and a high near 68 degrees, but unseasonably warm conditions are set to return on Tuesday, with a 14-year-old temperature record poised to fall as crews continue to battle the 24 fire along Colorado 115 southwest of Colorado Springs.
“Another heat ridge will make headlines this week across Southern Colorado and the Pikes Peak region,” said News 5 meteorologist Alan Rose. “Our current record of 74 degrees Fahrenheit at the Springs Airport looks to be in jeopardy. That record dates back to 2012.”
Wednesday’s predicted high is 87 degrees, which would smash the record March 25 high of 75, also set in 2012.
“Highs in the 80s will follow from Wednesday to Thursday, with new daily records possible each afternoon,” Rose said.
The Eastern Plains will see strong winds on Monday, with gusts reaching 30-40 mph.
“It will also be gusty and dry over the southern I-25 corridor, SE mountains, and mountain valleys,” Rose said.
A red flag warning for high fire danger is in effect from noon to 7 p.m.
Pueblo will likely break temperature records this week as well, according to the National Weather Service. The highs for Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday are set to reach 85, 91, and 88 degrees respectively. All would set new marks for their respective dates.
Here is the week’s forecast from the National Weather Service:
Tuesday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 80. Winds 5-10 mph in the afternoon.
Wednesday: Sunny, with a high near 87 degrees. Winds of 5-10 mph.

Friday: A 20% chance of showers after noon. Partly sunny, with a high near 55.
