Xtreme International Ice Racing slides into The Broadmoor World Arena
Studded tires, roaring engines and zero room for error.
This is racing, only with a frigid twist. That’s because of the surface. It’s not pavement, and it’s not dirt.
Xtreme International Ice Racing boasts the slickest surface, and that should make for intense action. Round 5 of the fierce competition comes to Colorado Springs this weekend.
The high-octane event, scheduled for 2:30 p.m. Saturday at The Broadmoor World Arena, 3185 Venetucci Blvd., will feature riders on motorcycles and quads battling across an unforgiving track, where tight turns, flying ice and split-second decisions are all part of the winter spectacle.
Speeds can feel even faster on the slick surface, as competitors lean into corners while tires claw for grip beneath them.
Owned by Anthony and Renee Barlow and presented by Burromax Electric Mini Bikes, Xtreme International Ice Racing has built a reputation for fast-paced thrills that put athletes and machines to the test, often with no brakes and little margin for mistakes.
Each round adds to the intensity of the larger competition as riders chase points and push for position in front of a live arena crowd.
Tickets range from $33 to $77. The event runs until 5 p.m. and is open to fans of all ages looking for an adrenaline-filled spectacle.
