Bob Stitt added experience to his football staff at Colorado School of Mines.

Scott McLaughlin, who spent 19 seasons at Wayne State in Detroit, was hired at Mines as the defensive coordinator. He will also work with the Orediggers’ linebackers.

McLaughlin’s defense in 2025 ranked eighth in total defense, third in rushing defense and 11th in scoring defense. It had 17 interceptions, eighth in the country. McLaughlin played on the defensive line at Nebraska Omaha.

The Orediggers finished 7-4 overall and 5-4 in the RMAC in 2025.
