2 killed in explosion at Pueblo County home on Thursday
An explosion and subsequent fire at a home in rural eastern Pueblo County killed a man and a woman, local officials announced in an update on Friday.
Multiple fire and law enforcement agencies responded to an explosion at the home, near 57th Lane and Cherry Road in Boone, on Thursday, according to reporting from Gazette news partner KOAA. The Pueblo County Sheriff’s Office, in a Friday news release, stated that the home was fully engulfed in fire when first responders arrived.
Firefighters quickly got the fire under control and discovered that the man and woman who had been home were unaccounted for. After the fire was out, firefighters found one of them. The second person was found earlier Friday morning, according to the Sheriff’s Office.
The office has launched an investigation into the cause of the explosion in collaboration with the Colorado Division of Fire Prevention and Control. Preliminary findings indicate it was an accidental explosion, the Sheriff’s Office said.
