One motorist died after hitting a tree in east Colorado Springs on Sunday, law enforcement officials said.

Police responded to a 10:45 p.m. call about a traffic crash on Dublin Boulevard just west of Cloud Dancer Drive, according to an online blotter entry. Arriving officers and other emergency personnel found a vehicle that had struck a tree. The vehicle’s lone occupant was declared dead at the scene.

Investigators determined that the vehicle had sideswiped a second car before leaving the roadway. The single occupant of the second vehicle did not appear to be injured, police said.

Police did not say whether alcohol or excessive speed were factors in the crash. The name of the deceased motorist was not released.
