Rogacki served with CSFD from 1979 to 2014 and was part of the department’s Wildland Program and High Angle Rescue Program.

As a search group manager with Colorado Task Force 1, he traveled to disasters across the country including ground zero after the 9/11 attacks and the Space Shuttle Columbia crash in 2003.

Rogacki died as a result of a cancer developed from his work at ground zero, according to previous reporting by The Gazette. His death is considered a line of duty death because he was diagnosed and died of a job-related cancer.
