A teenager accused of opening fire on a Colorado Springs residence with eight people inside, including a baby, in early April waived his right to a preliminary hearing Wednesday.
Ruben Sandoval, 19, was charged with eight counts of attempted murder with “extreme indifference” after his May arrest, court records show. He also faces several charges related to the illegal discharge of a firearm stemming from the April 8 shooting.

According to court documents, the drive-by shooting at a home in the 2100 block of East Willamette Avenue followed alleged internet “beef” that turned violent.
During Wednesday’s hearing, Sandoval’s defense attorney Jesi Duke informed the court that her client would waive a preliminary hearing and continue negotiations with the prosecution. Duke said she anticipates receiving some sort of plea offer in coming weeks.
Sandoval appeared out of custody Wednesday, seated next to a few family members. At a June hearing, Judge William Bain rejected a motion by the defense to lower Sandoval’s bond from $100,000 to $25,000.
