Six pack of Colorado Springs businesses seek liquor license expansions, new permits

August is shaping up to be a busy, and boozy, month if the city’s liquor and beer board agenda is any indication.

On Friday, the board will hear six requests, the most in a month this year, from businesses hoping to obtain new liquor licenses or have their current ones amended.

The six pack includes three requests for new liquor and beer licenses and three for premises modifications.

Cerberus Brewing is not planning a permanent expansion but rather seeking a permit to use its surrounding area for seating and serving as part of its ninth anniversary party.

“We’re planning to have a vendor market in the parking lot, a pig roast and an adoption event,” said Melissa Lefebvre. “And of course, all of this, we think, should be paired with our craft brews.”

The anniversary celebration will take place Aug. 23 within the brewery’s parking lot. Cerberus Brewing is located at 702 W. Colorado Ave.

Cerberus is one of two local breweries currently up for sale, the Gazette first reported in June. It will remain open, but current owners Jerry Morris and Tom Halfast, both of whom are in their 60s, are seeking new ownership .

The French Kitchen, 4771 N. Academy Blvd., is seeking to expand liquor services into a second unit at its location. Because of the nuance of addresses, the business can only serve liquor in one unit it occupies even though the second unit is directly next door.

The French Kitchen expanded in 2022, and in 2023 added more space to serve as an administrative center.

The third is another temporary expansion for the Good Company Restaurant and Bar, 7625 N. Union Blvd. The owner, Wayne Intermill, is hosting a reunion for a band with local roots that separated over 10 years ago.

As such, his restaurant needs a temporary modification to its existing license so he can have seating outside the restaurant’s front foyer, he said.

“I have been working on this member for some time to get the band back together for a reunited evening, and they have agreed to it and will be performing at Good Company on the 30th of August,” his justification letter, submitted to the city, said.

The three businesses that are seeking to pull a new liquor license are:

  • Walmart, which is seeking to sell alcohol at its new gas station at 5568 E. Woodmen Road.
  • KBBQ Wings, a Korean BBQ and sandwich shop located at 8029 N. Academy Blvd..
  • Sushi Mori, a sushi restaurant located at 4980 Edison Ave., Suite 100.
