3 injured in two separate traffic crashes on Sunday: Colorado Springs police
Three people were injured in two separate motor vehicle crashes on Sunday, according to Colorado Springs law enforcement.
Just after 4:30 p.m. Sunday, a scooter collided with another vehicle on Lake Avenue at the southbound Interstate 25 off-ramp, police said. Investigators determined that the scooter operator ran a red light while going west on Lake Avenue when it collided with a vehicle that was exiting the off-ramp.
The scooter driver, identified as Geramiah Vargas, was hospitalized with serious injuries and cited for “several traffic offenses,” officials said. Impairment was not considered a factor in the crash.
At about 7:15 p.m., officers responded to calls about a single-vehicle crash involving a motorcycle near North Weber and East Bijou streets, according to an online blotter entry. Investigators learned that the bike was heading west on Platte Avenue when the rider attempted a left turn on Weber Street and lost control. The motorcycle tipped over, injuring the driver and a passenger, police said. Both occupants were hospitalized. The driver was in critical condition, and the passenger was listed as stable.
No arrests were made in connection with the crash.
