2 arrested after brawl escalates at Colorado Springs apartments

A fight escalated overnight as two groups of people were ambushing and attacking each other with pots and pans at a Colorado Springs apartment complex, leading to two arrests after a juvenile was assaulted.

Just before 1 a.m. Tuesday, police responded to an apartment complex in the 3700 block of Marion Drive, near The Citadel mall. Police said they’d received about 10 calls throughout the course of the night reporting two groups were causing a disturbance there.

Police discovered the groups had each “jumped” each other earlier that night in two separate incidents: one inside a stairwell at the apartment complex, and another in the courtyard. During both fights, police said, individuals were allegedly hitting others with kitchen pots and pans.

Video evidence found through social media showed a juvenile being assaulted by five people during the second disturbance, police said. Two of the five were arrested, 19-year-old Amiya Guzman and a juvenile, for their alleged involvement.

The other three are being treated as suspects by police and have not been identified.

Anyone with information is encouraged to call the police department at 719-444-7000.
