Expect delays following a two-lane closure of U.S. 50 near Cotopaxi

Man barricades himself in Aurora apartment after hit-and-run

A critical traffic incident has caused a two-lane closure on U.S. 50 near mile marker 246.2, 1 mile east of Cotopaxi midday today.

Colorado State Patrol is directing traffic around the incident using alternating lanes. Those traveling through the area should expect delays.

The Colorado Department of Transportation lists the incident as a crash affecting the eastbound lane. The highway was still limited to just one lane as of 3:25 p.m. Wednesday.

It was not immediately clear how many people may have been injured, or their condition, according to a Fremont County police spokesperson. A Fight for Life helicopter did land at the scene and is now en route to a local hospital.
