A man is facing attempted murder charges after allegedly stabbing three people last year in downtown Colorado Springs, according to court records.

Tommy Lavery, 36, allegedly stabbed a 29-year-old male June 9, 2024, outside Gasoline Alley on North Tejon Street in downtown Colorado Springs, according to the arrest affidavit obtained by The Gazette.

The victim told police he was outside the bar smoking when Lavery walked up and stabbed him in the abdomen with a knife. He was taken to a local hospital for serious bodily injury. The victim told police he had never met Lavery prior to the assault. Officers obtained video footage of the assault from Gasoline Alley which helped confirm the victim’s statements.

Police say they searched the area, but did not locate a suspect at that time.

Eleven days later, Lavery allegedly stabbed a 22-year-old male at the East Cimarron Street and South Tejon Street intersection, according to court records.

Police responded and found the victim lying on the south side of the intersection with a stab wound on his lower back.

A witness on the scene told officers he and four others were walking on the sidewalk after leaving the Rabbit Hole restaurant at 101 North Tejon Street when Lavery approached them. The witness said the suspect came up to them from behind and asked for a cigarette. When they said no, Lavery slashed at one member of the party, stabbed another and ran off.

Officers located Lavery that night on Colorado Avenue west of Cascade Avenue and took him into custody.

In interviews with investigators Lavery denied being the suspect in either stabbing incident.

Police obtained a search warrant for his vehicle and found an empty knife box consistent with the knives described in the stabbings, and clothing matching what was seen on the June 9 suspect.

Lavery is being held at the El Paso County jail on a $75,000 bond. His next court appearance is scheduled for June 5.
