An unseasonably warm Sunday in Colorado Springs fell just a few degrees short of the record-high temperature for the date, according to the National Weather Service in Pueblo.

Sunday reached a high of 63 degrees, the weather agency said. The city’s record high for Dec. 22 is 69 degrees, set in 1955.

The week is expected to begin with mild temperatures and mostly clear skies on Monday and Tuesday, with highs in the upper 40s to lower 50s, said meteorologist Cameron Simcoe.

“But of course, what we all want to know is, ‘What’s going to happen on Christmas?’’’ Simcoe said.

Wednesday is expected to be breezy, with a chance of snow showers and a high of 49 degrees, according to NWS. Colorado Springs may see some light snow, but a “White Christmas” is unlikely, Simcoe said.

“We can’t rule out some light snow at the moment,” he said. “The details on how much, and where it ultimately will fall, are TBD at this time.”

Thursday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 47. West northwest wind around 5 mph becoming south southwest in the morning.

Friday: A chance of snow showers. Partly sunny, with a high near 45. North northwest wind 5 to 10 mph.

Saturday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 50. West wind around 10 mph.
