Christian Herrera, Colorado Springs Switchbacks eager to embrace next opportunity against Las Vegas Lights FC

The Colorado Springs Switchbacks may have just finished picking up the confetti off Weidner Field, but the club is already set for the 2025 season.

The USL Championship champions announced their 2025 schedule on Thursday. Colorado Springs will open the season on March 8 at El Paso Locomotive FC. The Switchbacks’ home opener will take place the following weekend as Colorado Springs hosts Detroit City FC in its first home game for the second consecutive year.

The Switchbacks will host perennial Eastern Conference contender Louisville City FC on the Fourth of July.

The team will play 30 matches as part of the regular season. Twenty-two of those will be played against USL Championship Western Conference teams and eight against Eastern Conference opponents. Former USL League One club Lexington SC will play in the league’s Western Conference this season.

In addition to the 30 contests, the Switchbacks will compete in the USL Jägermeister Cup which features 38 professional men’s teams from USL Championship and USL League One competing in a World Cup-style tournament during the regular season.

Jägermeister Cup matches begin league-wide on April 26 and won’t count toward Colorado Springs’ regular-season record. The Switchbacks’ first Jägermeister Cup match is May 31 at El Paso.
