Suspect in four Colorado Springs convenience store robberies arrested

Colorado Springs police report arresting a man Thursday afternoon they say is the lead suspect in at least four successful robberies.

Mickey Brand, 38, was arrested in the 1000 block of Western Drive close to Galley Rd. and Peterson Rd. by Colorado Springs Airport.

The department was investigating a pattern of convenience store robberies. Investigators say that in four robberies and one more attempted robbery a single male suspect would enter a convenience store and brandish a handgun, demanding money from the employees.

Investigators say they identified a suspect on Dec. 12th, 38-year-old Mickey Lee Brand.

He was taken into custody without incident by members of the Tactical Enforcement Unit.

Police say a warranted search of Brand’s residence uncovered evidence of the robberies.

A search of public records indicates that Brand has previously been convicted of breaking and entering, and has been arrested for aggravated assault.

Brand was listed as in custody at the El Paso County Jail Thursday evening, without an initial bond listed.

As of Friday morning, he was still in custody in the El Paso County Jail, with a $100,000 bond.
