Colorado Springs police have identified the victim in a Nov. 26 homicide that occurred in southeastern part of the city, according to a news release Wednesday from police.

The victim was identified only as a 17-year-old male, according to the release. Colorado law prohibits law enforcement from further identifying the victim because of their status as a minor.

The release states that the victim suffered at least one gunshot wound and died on the scene in the 1900 block of South Chelton Road.

No arrest has been announced.

Anyone with information is asked to call police at 719-444-4000. If you wish to remain anonymous, call Crime Stoppers at 719-634-7867 or 1-800-222-8477.

The unnamed juvenile was the third minor killed by gun violence this year in the city: A 7-year-old was killed in a murder-suicide in April, and a 17-year-old male was shot and killed near Sand Creek High School in February.

This was the 38th homicide in 2024 in Colorado Springs. At that time last year, there were 30 homicides.
