Colorado College moves up to No. 9 in college hockey polls despite bye week last weekend

The Colorado College Tigers must have really looked impressive on their bye week.

CC Hockey moved up two spots to No. 9 in the USCHO Division-I men’s hockey poll released Monday even though there was no opponent on the schedule this past weekend.

CC has already surpassed its highest ranking last season, which was 10th. The ranking is the program’s best since Jan. 12, 2012, when the Tigers were ranked No. 8.

The Tigers were the beneficiaries of a tough weekend for the 11th-ranked Quinnipiac Bobcats who were swept by No. 6 Maine.

Quinnipiac entered the weekend ranked seventh and Maine was previously ranked ninth.

The Tigers also moved ahead of No. 10 Michigan. The Wolverines remained in 10th after splitting a series against National Collegiate Hockey Conference team St. Cloud State. The Huskies moved one spot from 13th to 12th.

CC is also ranked ninth in the USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine poll which was also released Monday.

The Tigers’ rival Denver is ranked No. 1 in both polls.
